A macro photograph is a picture of something realllllly up close. For example, getting all the details on the wings of a fly. Taking a macro photo doesn’t involve just getting close to something, as when you do that, most cameras lose focus. You need a special lens or filter. These special lenses will allow you get extremely up close and get all the detail without losing any focus. Your images come out crisp, clean and sharp. A macro lens will run you around $600.00; they are very expensive for beginners and aren’t the thing you buy just to “try it out”. The other alternative is a macro filter. These are a set of magnifying filters that can slip onto your camera’s lenses. These are much cheaper running around $100.00 but you do lose some detail around the edges of your photo. In the end however, having a filter is a much better alternative for beginners who want to take some amazing photos at a cheaper price.
