A Dash of Canada

June 22nd, 2010 § 0 comments

You may have seen much of Canada’s culture recently as Canada just hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. However there may be lots that you don’t know about Canada other than that they’re really good at hockey. Take the time to learn about a Canada, you may just learn something interesting.

A little about Canada

First, let it be known that Canada is the most multi-cultural country in the world. The city of Toronto is the most multi-cultural city in the world. If you are to ever visit you will find a wide variety of ethnic groups and races. You may wonder if this causes conflicts between the many different groups. The great thing about Canada is that it doesn’t cause any conflict really. Hardly anyone owns a gun, and hate crimes can barely be found in the history of the country. One thing is for sure, the different people create some the best food around; you’ll easily be able to find yourself great Chinese, Italian, and Greek food, an Irish pub, and much more. Of course, many still go for the classic Canadian food such as Poutine; french fries with cheese curds and gravy on top.

So what do people do in Canada? Well, that all depends on where you are in Canada as it is the second biggest country in the world.  If you go out west, there are the Canadian Rockies. There, you’ll find many people biking the trails in the summer, or skiing/snowboarding in the winter. If you go out east, fishing, golfing and hunting are great past times. In the middle, simply relaxing at a pub, or playing some sports passes the time rather nicely. Canada also has many sports teams if your interested in cheering on the home team. In hockey, there are the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks. If hockey isn’t your sport, feel free to watch some Soccer with the Toronto FC, or basketball with the Toronto Raptors, or catch a baseball game with the Toronto Bluejays. Canada also has it’s own Football League with seven teams who all compete for the Grey Cup.

Some facts you may not know about Canada
