Background
Toronto is the most populous city in Canada and has about 2.5 million people in the city, and in the surrounding area, about another 5 million people. The crime rate in Toronto is among one the lowest in all of North America, making it one of the safest cities to visit. The city is only 630 square kilometers, but you’ll find plenty to do in, and around Toronto.
How to get there?
Like any major city in the world, there is an international airport to fly into. Toronto is no different, however it is pretty expensive to fly into Toronto. I would suggest flying into Hamilton (an hour away) or even cheaper, flying into Buffalo (2 hours away) and driving the rest of the way.
Why go there anyways?
One of the greatest things about Toronto is that it is the worlds most multi-cultural city. What this means for you is that you are able to see, taste, and experience many different cultures all in one place. You can get some great Italian, Greek, Chinese, Canadian, American, Brazillian or any other countries food all within walking distance of where you stay. There are plenty of night clubs, bars, coffee shops and jazz clubs to keep you going during the evening and night. Six major sports teams call Toronto home as well: Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC, Toronto Argonauts, Toronto Rock and the Toronto Blue Jays. This is great for any sports fan as you can always catch a game of your favorite sport. There are also many tourist attractions such as CN Tower which, when built in 1975, was the worlds tallest free standing structure. If you go up to the top, you can stand on a glass floor which lets you see the ground below; a scary, but awesome experience. Or check out the sky dome, the home of the Toronto Blue Jays and see the worlds first retractable roof. You can also head out to the waterfront and catch a boat ride and go around the harbor and really see the full size and beauty of the city. Take a look at some pictures of Toronto below.
